CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your CertainTeed driveway or paver section has cracked, settled, or started separating at the joints, we can match the replacement material and install it correctly the first time. For Los Angeles homes, paver driveway installation runs $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, paver profile, and whether we’re patching a failed section or redoing the full approach. Most CertainTeed paver matches can be completed within a few days once we have the right product on site.
What usually brings a homeowner to this page: a paver that cracked under the weight of a delivery truck, a section that sank after a winter of heavy rain on already-compacted soil, or joints that have eroded to the point where pavers shift underfoot. Sometimes it’s a failed edge restraint that let a whole border wander. The fix is rarely just “replace one paver.” It’s understanding why that paver failed so the rest of the driveway doesn’t follow.
We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not a CertainTeed dealer or affiliate. That matters because our recommendation is never limited to one catalog. We match what works for your existing layout, your drainage, and the way your family uses the driveway every day.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

CertainTeed offers paver systems across several product families, and the naming conventions trip up a lot of homeowners. The most common lines we see in Los Angeles driveways include the Lafitt Grana, Lafitt Rustic, and Mega-Lafitt profiles, along with the more traditional Holland and Plank shapes. Each line runs in different thicknesses, typically 60mm for residential driveways and 80mm for heavier vehicle loads or commercial approaches.
The compatibility gotcha worth knowing: CertainTeed color blends are factory-batched, and a paver ordered two years later will not perfectly match the original sun-exposed surface. UV exposure in Southern California fades the surface pigment gradually. A brand-new paving stone in “Sierra” blend next to a 2019 paver in the same color will look visibly different for the first season. Where it matters aesthetically, we’ll open the option of pulling pavers from a less visible area, like alongside the garage, and resetting them in the prominent section while the new product goes where fewer eyes land.
An honest OEM-versus-aftermarket note: CertainTeed pavers are manufactured to ASTM C936 standards, same as most quality concrete pavers sold under other names. The fit is not proprietary the way a cabinet hinge or a faucet cartridge is. A quality aftermarket paver from a reputable manufacturer, matched for thickness and chip profile, will perform identically. The real variable is color blend and whether the replacement carries the same surface texture. We’ll show you options side-by-side before ordering a full pallet.

Signs Your CertainTeed Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Cracked pavers in a straight line across the driveway. This is almost always a base failure underneath, not a defective paver. Concrete pavers rarely crack on their own; they crack when the base below stops supporting them evenly.
- One section sinks lower than the surrounding area. In Los Angeles, this commonly traces back to a broken irrigation line, poor original compaction, or water migrating under the edge and washing fines out of the base. We find sprinkler leaks under settled paver sections more often than any other single cause.
- Joint sand is gone and pavers rock when you step on them. Without sand locking the pavers together, the interlock fails and each stone moves independently. Left alone, edges chip and the pattern drifts.
- The border row has separated from the field. Plastic edge restraint that was never properly spiked, or was chewed through by a landscaper’s edger, lets the entire perimeter loosen. The border is the frame; when it lets go, the driveway follows within a year or two.
- White, chalky residue spreading across the surface. Efflorescence is cosmetic, not structural, but it signals water moving through the paver body. In coastal Los Angeles neighborhoods with higher humidity, we see it more often. It can be cleaned, but the water path should be checked.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, expect a partial paver repair or individual section replacement to run $4,130 – $12,980 depending on the square footage and whether we’re salvaging existing material. A full paver driveway installation is $8,260 – $21,240. The range is driven by three things: total square footage, whether the existing base can be reused or needs to be excavated and recompacted, and the paver profile you’re matching.
What’s included in our written price, every time: removal and disposal of failed material, base preparation to Los Angeles soil conditions (our native clay expands and contracts with moisture, so proper compaction and drainage matter more than the paver itself), the CertainTeed or matched-compatible pavers, joint sand, and a new edge restraint. No add-ons after the crew arrives. The written scope is the promise – if it is not on the paper, we have not agreed to it yet.
Our 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to paver work the same as it does to our remodels. If a section settles or separates within a year of completion, we come back and fix it without a change order.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a single cracked paver is something a careful homeowner can do with a pry bar, a rubber mallet, and a bag of joint sand. It’s oddly satisfying work. What we’d caution against: lifting more than a few pavers without understanding the base underneath. Once you disturb the compacted base or the edge restraint, you’ve turned a one-hour patch into a section-level repair, and without a plate compactor the new section will settle within months.
If you’re seeing more than two or three failed pavers, or if a section is sinking, call us before you touch anything. We’ll tell you what’s actually happening underneath, and whether it’s a repair or a redo. The estimate is free, and it comes in writing. (949) 850-9896.
FAQs

A properly installed concrete paver driveway in Los Angeles lasts 25 – 40 years, with joint sand replenishment every 5 – 8 years. The pavers themselves rarely fail; the base and the joint maintenance are what determine lifespan. Call (949) 850-9896 if you’re seeing early wear – it’s usually fixable before it spreads.
A single cracked paver cannot be repaired, only replaced, and it’s a straightforward swap. If multiple pavers are cracking in a line, that’s a base failure that needs a section-level fix. We’ll tell you which you have before quoting anything.
A single paver swap takes under an hour. A section repair takes one to two days. A full driveway replacement typically runs three to five days, including excavation, compaction, and final sanding. We schedule around your family’s routine, with quiet tools during rest hours where possible.
We stock a limited range of common profiles and colors for quick repairs, and we order specific blends to match existing driveways, which usually takes five to ten business days in Los Angeles. We’ll show you the color-match options before committing to an order. Call (949) 850-9896 and we’ll check current stock for your specific paver.
