Dvele Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Dvele fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete perimeter install, depending on linear footage, post-setting conditions, and gate hardware. We stock Dvele-compatible fence components at our Los Angeles yard and can usually schedule the work within the same week, not the same month. Most owners call us after a wind event or a hillside shift leaves a section leaning, a post base loose in the soil, or a gate that no longer latches cleanly against the frame.

Elmstead Remodeling is an independent Los Angeles contractor and not affiliated with Dvele. What that means for you is straightforward: we match your existing fence profile, order the correct extrusion and fasteners, and install it without trying to upsell you into a different system.

Before we price anything, we walk the fence line with you. We check the post footings, the panel alignment, the gate hinges, and the way water moves across the lot after rain. Los Angeles hillsides in neighborhoods like Silver Lake, Echo Park, and Mount Washington put real lateral pressure on fence posts during winter storms, and the difference between a 10-year fence and a 25-year fence usually comes down to how the post base was set. Graham Stein, our owner, grew up in Silver Lake and has spent the better part of two decades watching how soil and slope behave differently from one LA street to the next. That local knowledge is what keeps our fence installs standing straight through a wet season.

The written price you receive before we start is the price you pay. No adjustment for “unexpected soil conditions” after the crew arrives. No change order because the gate hardware cost more than we thought. The written scope is the promise – if it is not on the paper, we have not agreed to it yet.

Which Dvele Models This Applies To

A single-story rear room addition with tall windows and a new patio

Dvele homes in Los Angeles fall into several series lines, and the fence systems vary by build year and community spec. That matters because a 2021 Dvele in the Inland Empire is not necessarily running the same fence extrusion as a 2024 build in Santa Monica. The compatibility check is the first thing we do, and it is not complicated: we identify the post profile, measure the panel height and rail spacing, and match the finish.

Dvele fences are typically aluminum or steel systems with a powder-coated finish, and most Los Angeles builds use a standard 6-foot panel with a top and bottom rail. The critical spec is the post-to-panel bracket style. Some Dvele communities use a concealed fastener bracket; others use a face-mounted bracket. They are not interchangeable, and forcing one into the other is how you end up with panels that rattle in the wind and wear out the powder coat at the contact points.

For the fence itself, Dvele owners have two honest choices: OEM-matched panels ordered to spec, or quality aftermarket equivalents that match the profile and finish. We carry both. The aftermarket option from a manufacturer like Fortress or ActiveYards is often delivered faster and carries the same structural warranty. The OEM option guarantees a perfect finish match if your fence has aged past the point where a new panel would stand out. We’ll show you both prices and let you decide.

One more compatibility note worth checking before you buy anything: confirm your fence profile by looking at the underside of the top rail. Most Dvele fence systems stamp a manufacturing code within 18 inches of the post. Send us a photo of that code and we can usually identify the exact series before we even schedule the walkthrough.

Signs Your Dvele Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts leaning at the base. This is almost never the post itself bending. In Los Angeles, it is usually the footing losing grip in expansive clay soil that heaves during wet winters and shrinks during dry summers. The post stays straight; the ground lets go around it.
  • Gate sagging or dragging on the concrete. The hinge-side post is taking more load than it was set for, or the gate frame is twisting. Dvele gates are engineered light, which is great for operation but means the hinge attachment is the first point of fatigue.
  • Panels rattling in the wind. The bracket fasteners have loosened, or the concealed brackets were installed slightly out of square originally. Left alone, the movement wears the powder coat at every contact point and accelerates corrosion.
  • White oxidation blooming at the joints. Southern California coastal air is salt-heavy. If your fence is within five miles of the ocean, you will see a fine white powder start at the post-to-panel connections first. That is galvanic corrosion starting, and early replacement of the fasteners stops it.
  • Fence line out of alignment when viewed from the street. One panel out of plane means a footing has shifted. It does not self-correct. The panel will continue to drift until the rail pulls out of the bracket entirely.

None of these are aesthetic problems. A fence that is leaning or loose is a fence that stops doing its job: keeping kids and pets in, keeping street traffic and eyes out, and standing up to the next Santa Ana wind event.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A second-story addition that matches the existing roofline

Dvele fence installation in Los Angeles runs $4,130 to $10,620 installed, and the range is driven by three things: linear footage, gate count, and footing condition. A straight 60-foot run with one gate on flat ground lands at the low end. A 150-foot run wrapping a hillside lot with two gates and several footings set in rock lands at the high end.

Here is what the price includes on every job:

  • Removal and haul-away of the failing fence sections
  • New footings set to Los Angeles hillside standards, including concrete where the soil requires it
  • Panels, posts, brackets, and fasteners matched to your Dvele profile
  • Gate hardware installed and adjusted so it closes dead-level
  • Clean-up with a photo of the site before the crew leaves

The price is written before we start. Not an estimate. A written scope with a fixed number. Every fence job we complete is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it is not done right after the job is complete, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

The safe DIY work is the inspection. Walk the line. Push each post at chest height and watch the base. Check the gate at the latch and the hinge. Look for that white oxidation at the joints. Take photos of anything that has moved.

What I would not do yourself is pull and reset posts on a Los Angeles hillside. The footing is the part you cannot see, and a post set shallow in expansive soil will lean again within two seasons. We have taken apart enough DIY fence repairs to know this one specifically: the homeowner digs three feet, sets the post in a bag of Quikrete, and calls it done. Six months later the wind comes back through the pass and the panel is leaning ten degrees. The repair cost more than the original install ever would have.

Same story with gate hardware. Dvele gates are light, which means the hinge attachment point is precise. If you are off by a quarter inch, the gate drags or binds. We bring the right brackets on the truck, and we adjust the gate until it closes itself from six inches out.

If you are not sure whether you need a repair or a full replacement, call (949) 850-9896 and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you honestly whether it is worth a service call or whether it can wait.
