American Standard Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

American Standard kitchen remodeling in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed, and the work generally takes 4 to 8 weeks depending on cabinet lead times and whether walls or plumbing move. We stock American Standard-compatible faucets, sinks, and fixture trim on the truck, and we can source the rest through our named-brand partners with a written price before any work starts. Most Los Angeles homeowners call us after years of living with a kitchen that was not quite right from the start – a sink that never drained properly, cabinet doors that stopped closing, a faucet that drips through every drought summer.

Which American Standard Models This Applies To

A stone counter, tile backsplash and open shelf after a kitchen remodel

American Standard kitchen products fall into a few families we see regularly across Los Angeles homes. The Colony and Reliant lines are the entry-level faucets and sinks, common in mid-century ranches in the Valley and post-war bungalows in Silver Lake and Echo Park. The Studio and Pekoe lines are the mid-range, with ceramic disc valves that hold up better to hard water. At the top is the Townsend line, often paired with a fireclay sink. When we remodel a kitchen around an American Standard fixture or sink, the first thing we check is the valve type, because Colony and Reliant faucets use a cartridge that is not interchangeable with Studio or Pekoe, and that single compatibility gotcha has stalled more DIY swaps than any other mistake we see.

For sinks, the model number is stamped on the underside of the basin. American Standard fireclay sinks have non-standard cutout dimensions, sometimes off by an eighth of an inch from the spec sheet. That matters when we are fitting a new countertop from Cambria or Silestone: the fabricator needs the physical sink on site, not just the paper template, or the reveal will be wrong. We handle that coordination as part of the written scope, because it is exactly the kind of detail that goes sideways when it is left to chance. Elmstead Remodeling is an independent contractor and not affiliated with American Standard, but we work with their product lines because families in Los Angeles ask for them by name.

Signs Your American Standard Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Faucet drips at the base of the spout, not the handle. That is the O-ring on the swivel, not the cartridge. Replacing the cartridge will not stop it, and you will pay twice for the wrong repair.
  • Cabinet doors rub or hang crooked. Foundation settlement is common in Los Angeles, especially in hillside neighborhoods like Mount Washington and Eagle Rock, and it shows up first in the kitchen because cabinet reveals are tight. The boxes may still be sound – the hinge plates just need re-aligning on the new plane.
  • Countertop seams open in summer. Heat and low humidity in the San Fernando Valley pull stone and quartz apart at the seams. A seam opening more than a credit-card width means the substrate has moved and the slab needs to be re-bedded, not just re-caulked.
  • Drain smells that come and go. An American Standard sink with a deep basin paired to a shallow P-trap under the cabinet will siphon the trap dry every few days. That is a venting issue, not a cleaning issue, and it is fixed by adjusting the drain line, not by pouring baking soda down it.
  • Finish flaking on the faucet body. Once the PVD or powder coat starts peeling on a Colony or Reliant, the body is compromised. You can replace the trim, but if the valve body shows corrosion at the same time, the whole fixture is closer to replacement than repair.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

In Los Angeles, a full kitchen remodel with American Standard fixtures, KraftMaid or Wellborn cabinetry, and Cambria or Silestone countertops runs $16,520 to $53,100. A smaller, simpler kitchen – same footprint, new cabinet faces, new countertop, new sink and faucet – falls between $10,620 and $23,600. If the scope is just the American Standard sink and faucet with a countertop replacement, expect $2,360 to $7,670 for the countertop alone, with fixture work folded into the labor.

What drives the range in Los Angeles is mostly cabinet construction and site conditions. KraftMaid stock cabinetry ships fast and costs less; Wellborn semi-custom costs more and takes longer, but it lets us fit odd walls in older Los Angeles homes without filler strips. Hillside homes sometimes need structural shimming before the countertop goes down, and that labor is real. Every Elmstead Remodeling project includes a written price before any work starts, shoe covers and drop cloths on every visit, and a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work – if something is not done right, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

For an American Standard kitchen fixture, a homeowner who is comfortable with basic plumbing can replace a faucet cartridge or a sink basket strainer without our help. The thing to remember: shut the water off at the angle stops first, and if the stops are old and do not turn, stop right there. Forcing a corroded angle stop in a Los Angeles home with older galvanized pipe is how a ten-minute cartridge swap becomes a flooded cabinet and a wall cut open.

Do not DIY a countertop, cabinet re-alignment, or anything that involves gas, a load-bearing wall, or moving a sink drain line. A wrong cabinet reveal leaves the kitchen looking worse than before. A countertop seam opened by foundation movement needs a fabricator and a remodeler on the same page, not a tube of silicone. If the job has a written scope and a warranty behind it, let that be the reason you call. We are at (949) 850-9896, and a live person answers.
