Belgard Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Belgard paver driveway and patio installation in Los Angeles typically runs $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, site prep, and the specific Belgard line you choose. We stock Belgard-compatible pavers, edge restraints, joint sand, and base materials, and we can usually begin a paver driveway or patio project within a few weeks of your written estimate. Most homeowners discover they need our help in one of two ways: a paver has cracked or settled after a few seasons of Los Angeles rain, or the polymeric sand between pavers has washed out and weeds are now pushing through the joints. Either way, the fix is rarely about one paver. It’s usually about what’s underneath it.
Which Belgard Models This Applies To

This page covers the Belgard paver lines most common in Los Angeles driveways and patios: the Dublin Cobble, Catalina Slate, Mega-Arbel, Urbana Stone, and the modular Holland Stone series. The good news is that Belgard pavers share a consistent 60mm and 80mm thickness across most residential lines, which means identification is usually a matter of measuring the paver, not guessing at the series. The compatibility gotcha we see constantly in Los Angeles is this: a homeowner patches a section with pavers from a different Belgard line because the color looked close in the store, and then the pattern and joint spacing never quite line up. Belgard color names are specific – Sierra, Harvest Blend, Fossil Beige, Toscana – and each one weathers differently under Southern California sun. If you’re matching an existing driveway, take a photo of the original invoice if you have it, or pull one paver from an edge and bring it in. We can identify nearly every Belgard paver still in production by its dimensions and surface texture.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: Belgard manufactures its own pavers, and there is no true “aftermarket” equivalent that matches the color, texture, and UV-stability of the original. Substituting a generic paver from a garden center will look wrong within a year. We source directly from Belgard-authorized distributors in the Los Angeles area, so the pavers we install are the same ones your original contractor used. Elmstead Remodeling is an independent contractor and not affiliated with Belgard, but we’ve worked with their product lines long enough to know which series are still in production and which have been discontinued, which matters when you need a match for a driveway installed ten years ago.

Signs Your Belgard Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Joint sand is washing out after rain. Los Angeles gets a few concentrated downpours each winter, and when polymeric sand fails, it washes toward the lowest corner of the driveway. The cause is almost always an edge restraint that’s loose or missing, or a base that has settled so water no longer drains the way it did when the driveway was new.
- A single paver has cracked in the middle, not at the edge. A mid-paver crack usually means the base layer under that spot has a void. It could be a rotted tree root that decayed, a utility trench that was backfilled without proper compaction, or water undermining from below. Replacing just the paver doesn’t fix what’s underneath.
- The driveway has a low spot that holds water for more than an hour after rain. Water pooling on concrete is one thing; on a paver driveway, pooling means the base has compacted unevenly, and more pavers will begin to sink. In Los Angeles, where soil can range from sandy loam to expansive clay, this is the most common issue we correct.
- Edge pavers are drifting outward into the lawn or planter. When the edge restraint fails, the whole field of pavers slowly loses tension. The pavers stay in place, but the gaps at the edges widen, and then the edge pavers start to tip.
- Weeds are growing through the joints everywhere, not just at the edges. Every paver driveway gets the occasional weed at the edge. When you’ve got weeds sprouting in the middle of the driveway, the joint sand is essentially gone, and the pavers are now resting directly against each other, which means they’ll start to chip.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Paver driveway installation in Los Angeles runs $8,260 to $21,240. Paver patio installation runs $4,130 to $12,980. These numbers include demolition and removal of the existing surface, excavation to the proper depth, base material and compaction, bedding sand, the Belgard pavers themselves, edge restraints, polymeric joint sand, and clean-up. What drives the difference between the low and high end is access (a narrow Los Angeles side yard with no machine access costs more in labor), the paver line you select (Dublin Cobble is less expensive per square foot than Catalina Slate), and whether we’re correcting a failing base or starting from scratch. We give you a written price before any work starts, and the price on that paper is the price you pay. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every Belgard driveway and patio installation: if it’s not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
A paver driveway is not a dangerous DIY project the way a garage door spring is. You will not get hurt resetting an edge restraint. But you can absolutely make the problem worse, and we have fixed enough Los Angeles driveways to know the pattern: a homeowner lifts six pavers, adds a bag of sand, levels things out by eye, and six months later the low spot is back and now the joint lines don’t match. The honest split is this: if your joint sand is washing out and your pavers are still flat, re-sanding with the right polymeric sand is a project a careful homeowner can do over a weekend. If pavers are cracked, sunken, or tipping, the base needs work, and that requires excavation, compaction, and a laser level. That’s a call to our shop, not a trip to the hardware store. Call (949) 850-9896 and we’ll look at photos or schedule a site visit.
FAQs

A correctly installed Belgard paver driveway in Los Angeles lasts 25 to 40 years with basic maintenance, which means re-sanding the joints every few years and keeping the edge restraints intact. The pavers themselves rarely fail. What fails in our climate is what’s underneath them, because Los Angeles soil expands and contracts with winter rain and summer drought in ways that stress any base that wasn’t properly compacted. Call (949) 850-9896 if you’d like us to look at your driveway, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it needs a repair or a new base.
If the crack is isolated and the paver isn’t moving, that one paver can be lifted and replaced for a fraction of the cost of a new driveway, assuming a matching paver is available. If the crack is in the middle of the driveway and the surrounding pavers have shifted, the paver is the symptom, and a replacement won’t hold unless we address the base underneath. Call (949) 850-9896 and we’ll help you figure out which situation you have.
A typical Los Angeles paver driveway takes 5 to 10 working days from demolition to final compaction and joint sand, depending on access, size, and whether we’re removing an old concrete slab or working over bare ground. We’ll give you a written schedule as part of the written estimate, and we protect the path from the driveway to the house with drop cloths and shoe covers while our crew is on site.
We don’t stock every Belgard color in our shop, but we can source any current Belgard line through our Los Angeles distributors, usually within a few days. If you only need a few pavers matched for a repair, we can order them, and we’ll also install them correctly so the repair doesn’t sag or shift. Call (949) 850-9896 with the paver dimensions and a photo if you have one. KraftMaid cabinets, Cambria and Silestone surfaces – those are our other named-brand material lines, and the same principle applies: the brand name matters, and the installation matters more.
