Blanco Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Blanco driveway and paver work in Los Angeles typically runs $8,260 to $21,240 installed, depending on square footage, paver grade, and whether we’re repairing a section or replacing the full surface. We stock Blanco-compatible pavers and match them to your existing layout within one business day. What most Los Angeles homeowners notice first is not a crumbled paver but a low spot where water pools after the morning sprinklers, or a paver that rocks underfoot near the hose bib. Then you kneel down and see the sand has washed out from between the joints, and the base underneath has started shifting.

As an independent service provider, not affiliated with Blanco, we carry the paver lines and matching joint sand that installers around Los Angeles have used with Blanco driveways for years. The goal is a match that disappears into the existing layout rather than a patch that looks like a patch.

Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco’s paving products split into two families: the Blanco Stone line (tumbled, softer-edges, often used for patios and walkways) and the Blanco Drive line (denser, calibrated-height pavers built for vehicle weight). The Drive line is what we see most often in Los Angeles front yards from the 2000s onward, and it comes in 60mm and 80mm thicknesses for residential, with the 80mm spec rated for heavier vehicles and the occasional delivery truck.

The compatibility gotcha: Blanco changed its chamfer profile around 2015. Pavers from before that cut have a slightly larger edge bevel, so a new paver set against old ones can show a lip of joint sand that looks off even when the color matches. We’ve learned to blend that transition rather than lay new against old in a straight line that draws the eye. If you cannot find a label, flip a paver and look for the Blanco name stamped on the underside, then measure thickness with a tape. Those two details tell us almost everything we need to know before we arrive.

For OEM versus aftermarket: Blanco’s in-house pavers carry the best color consistency across a full pallet, but several California manufacturers produce aftermarket pavers engineered to Blanco’s dimensional spec that we have used on smaller infill repairs where matching the existing weathered color is actually easier than starting fresh. We will show you both options and price them separately.

Signs Your Blanco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Water pooling in one spot after rain or irrigation. The base material underneath has settled or compacted unevenly, which means the pavers above it are no longer carrying weight the way they did when the driveway was laid. Left alone, the pool grows.
  • A paver that rocks or clicks when you step on it. This means the bedding sand under that specific paver has washed away, usually through a widening joint. Adjusting the tile usually does not last because the underlying wash-out continues.
  • Joint sand disappearing faster than you can sweep it back in, with ants building nests in the gaps. Los Angeles’s dry, hot summers bake out whatever polymer or sand was originally between the pavers. Ants move in, and rain channels through the empty joints and undermines the base.
  • A crack running straight through several pavers in a row. This is often a vehicle weight problem: a heavy truck parked on 60mm pavers will crack them along the wheel path. We recommend 80mm for any Los Angeles driveway that hosts a pickup, SUV, or trades van daily.
  • Edges spreading beyond the original border. When the concrete border or edge restraint loosens, the outer row of pavers drifts outward under turning tires, and the whole field starts to shift.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, paver driveway installation runs $8,260 to $21,240 for a full surface, while smaller repairs or section replacements fall between $2,000 and $6,000 depending on square footage and how much base reconstruction is required. Driveway sealing costs $295 to $825 and is the least expensive preventive measure: it stabilizes joint sand and slows wash-out. Every project gets a written price before any work starts, and we pull the appropriate permits and pass inspections when the city requires them.

The part itself is only one line on the quote. We also itemize base compaction, bedding sand, joint sand, edge restraint repair, and disposal of the old pavers. That transparency matters because the labor of prepping the base correctly is what determines whether the new pavers stay aligned through a Los Angeles rainy season. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work: if it is not done right after we leave, we make it right.

Concrete driveway installation, by contrast, runs $5,310 to $14,160 in this market, and driveway replacement spans $5,900 to $16,520. When a Blanco paver driveway is damaged beyond a simple infill, homeowners sometimes debate switching to concrete. We will price both so you can compare written line items rather than guesses.

DIY or Call Us?

There are safe, easy checks you can and should do before calling anyone: mark the low spots with chalk after a rain, note any pavers that shift underfoot, take a photo of the underside stamp so we can confirm series and year. Those details save a trip.

What we would not recommend doing yourself is pulling up sunken pavers to re-level them. A proper re-set means excavating the base, compacting in lifts, and re-screeding the bedding sand so the repaired section drains and carries load like the surrounding field. If you skip that, the new pavers will sit high for six months and then sink again. The real hazard in Los Angeles is the base: decomposed granite and sandy loam behave differently than the clay soils in other parts of the city, and you need compaction equipment, not a hand tamper, to get it right. Call us at (949) 850-9896, and we will come and quote the job honestly, including what does not need to be done.
