Bufftech Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Bufftech fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 – $10,620 for a full panel and post system, depending on linear footage, gate hardware, and whether we’re replacing an existing fence or starting fresh. Most Bufftech jobs we quote in Los Angeles fall between $45 and $75 per linear foot installed, with gates adding $850 – $2,200 each. The call usually comes after a car taps a fence panel, a dog digs out a post base, or years of SoCal sun have faded and embrittled the top rails. You know the exact panel style you have. You just need it matched, quoted at a written price, and installed without the crew leaving torn plastic and concrete dust across the yard.

Which Bufftech Models This Applies To

Bufftech sells vinyl fence systems under three main lines we work with regularly across Los Angeles: CertaGrain (wood-grain texture), ClassicGrain (subtler grain), and Broadvue (smooth, flat panel). Post sizes are the first compatibility gotcha. Bufftech uses both 4×4 and 5×5 post profiles depending on fence height and wind load, and a 5×5 post will not accept a 4×4 post cap or mounting bracket cleanly. Measure the post outside dimension before calling us, or take a photo of the panel profile from the side. That one measurement saves everyone a second trip.

The second gotcha is rail style. Some Bufftech lines use routed rail pockets, others use bracket-hung rails. They are not interchangeable, and mixing them leaves the fence loose at the pickets. We stock genuine Bufftech panels and posts, and we also carry high-quality aftermarket equivalents for discontinued colors. If your panel is no longer in production, we can typically match the profile and have it custom-fabricated, though color-matching a 15-year-old sun-faded panel is never perfect. We’ll tell you that before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your Bufftech Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Leaning posts, especially after rain. In Los Angeles we get long dry stretches then sudden heavy rain. Water runs to the post base, softens the soil, and a post that was never set in a proper concrete footer starts to lean within 24 hours. The fix is pulling the post, re-setting it in fast-cure concrete, and re-securing the rails.
  • Cracked bottom rails or split pickets at the base. Vinyl expands and contracts with temperature swings. Los Angeles’ inland areas see 40-degree daily shifts, which flexes the material. Over time, a rail that was forced into its routing pocket rather than seated from the end develops a stress crack.
  • Faded, chalky, or powdery panel surfaces. The sun in Los Angeles is harder on vinyl than people expect. Bufftech panels carry UV inhibitors, but after 12 – 15 years of direct western or southern exposure, the surface breaks down. Faded panels still hold structurally; chalky ones are near the end.
  • Loose pickets that rattle or can be pushed out by a child’s hand. The pickets are pressure-fit into the bottom rail. If the rail has cracked or warped, the pickets lose their seat. If a picket comes out at the bottom, the fence still blocks sight lines but no longer contains a dog that pushes against it.
  • Gate sag or a latch that no longer lines up. Heavy Bufftech gates on residential hinges sag as the hinge screws wallow out of the vinyl post. Shimming and re-hanging is sometimes enough; often the post face is too chewed up and the post needs to be replaced or sleeved.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled staircase with wood treads and a slim metal railing

For a typical Los Angeles backyard, plan on $4,130 – $10,620 for a complete Bufftech fence installation. That includes tear-out of the old fence, haul-away, concrete post footers, panels, rails, post caps, one gate, and a walk-through with you before the crew leaves. Smaller repairs are dramatically cheaper: replacing a single cracked section costs $350 – $800 including labor and matching material; resetting a leaning post runs $150 – $400 including new concrete.

What drives the high end of the range is post replacement count, slope-tolerance of the panel line, whether your property line has access from the neighbor’s side, and gate count. Before we start, you receive a written line-item price that lists every panel, every post, every bag of concrete, and the labor. That price does not change once it is signed unless you add scope. The workmanship is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a post shifts or a panel comes loose within a year, we come back and fix it.

DIY or Call Us?

Fence replacement is not a dangerous job the way high-tension garage springs are. What makes it hard, specifically with Bufftech, is that vinyl does not forgive mistakes the way wood does. Cut a rail a half-inch short and it will never seat correctly. Set a post 3 degrees out of plumb and every panel after it compounds the error on sloping Los Angeles yards. You can safely check a few things before calling us: whether posts wiggle at the base, whether rails have pulled from their pockets, and whether gate hardware is missing screws. What we would not recommend is pulling posts and re-pouring concrete on a bath-time schedule. The concrete needs to cure properly, the rail channels need to be clean, and a rushed job shows up as a cracked panel next summer. If you want the fence to look right for 20 years and not just for two, call (949) 850-9896. We will come measure, identify your exact panel profile, and write the price down on paper before any work starts.

How long does a Bufftech fence last in Los Angeles?

Expect 20 – 30 years from properly installed Bufftech vinyl fencing in Los Angeles, with color fading noticeable after 12 – 15 years on sun-facing sides. Coastal salt air in areas like Playa del Rey and Marina del Rey accelerates the haze on the surface, but it does not usually shorten the structural life if the posts were set correctly. Call (949) 850-9896 to have your fence’s remaining life assessed for free.

Can a damaged Bufftech panel be repaired instead of replaced?

Small punctures can be patched with vinyl patch kits, but cracked rails and split pickets should be replaced with matching Bufftech material rather than glued. Glue repairs on structural vinyl fail within one or two Los Angeles temperature cycles, so we replace cracked components and carry genuine Bufftech stock in our trucks. Call (949) 850-9896 and we’ll tell you honestly whether your panel needs a patch or a swap.

How long does a Bufftech fence installation take?

A typical Los Angeles residential Bufftech fence job takes 2 – 4 working days from tear-out to final walk-through. If we are matching an existing fence and reusing good posts, one day is realistic. Rain days in the winter can add time because we do not pour concrete footers in wet ground conditions. Call (949) 850-9896 for an exact timeline based on your fence length and gate count.

Do you stock Bufftech panels and parts locally?

We keep common Bufftech CertaGrain and Broadvue panel profiles, post caps, and rail stock in our Los Angeles area warehouse. For less common colors or discontinued lines, we typically place a factory order that takes 5 – 10 business days. Call (949) 850-9896 and let us know your panel style and any letters or numbers on the panel underside; we’ll check stock while you’re on the phone.
