Cambria Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

Cambria bathroom remodeling in Los Angeles typically costs between $10,620 and $33,040, and we stock the Cambria quartz surfaces, edge profiles, and installation materials needed for most bathroom vanities, tub decks, and shower surrounds. Most Los Angeles homeowners call us after a Cambria countertop has cracked near the sink, a seam has opened, or a sink has separated from the deck. The fix usually means replacing the damaged Cambria slab or re-fabricating a section, not patching it, because Cambria is a natural quartz surface that cannot be invisibly repaired once the surface integrity is broken.

We’re Elmstead Remodeling, a Cedarwell company, and Graham Stein leads our Los Angeles team. We are an independent contractor, not affiliated with Cambria, but we work with Cambria quartz every week and know how it behaves in Southern California homes, from the hard-water deposits in Woodland Hills to the settling movement we see in older Silver Lake bathrooms.

Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria produces more than 130 quartz designs, but the installation and remodeling challenges are the same across the brand. The surfaces are 1cm, 2cm, or 3cm thick, and bathroom vanities in Los Angeles typically use 2cm or 3cm slabs. The 3cm Cambria slabs do not need plywood underlayment, which matters when you are matching an existing vanity height. We run into that constantly in Los Angeles bathrooms built in the 1980s and 1990s, where the original vanity was framed for 2cm laminate or tile.

When a homeowner has a failing Cambria part, the first thing we do is check the edge profile. Cambria’s standard profiles are eased, beveled, bullnose, and ogee, and the replacement section has to match or the seam will always catch the eye. We also check the slab lot number if the homeowner has the fabrication paperwork, because Cambria’s colors, like Brittanicca, Torquay, and Ella, vary slightly from lot to lot. If you don’t have the paperwork, we photograph the existing slab in natural light and match against Cambria’s current design catalog at the fabricator’s yard. One of the more useful things to know as a Los Angeles homeowner: Cambria’s polished finishes are consistent across its lifetime warranty, but the matte finishes introduced in recent years are not always an exact match to older matte lots, so we verify before cutting.

For OEM versus aftermarket: Cambria is the only source for genuine Cambria slabs, and there is no aftermarket equivalent. What we do stock on the truck are the supporting parts that often fail alongside the surface: sink clips, undermount sink brackets, sealant, faucet deck plates, and the quiet-close hardware for the vanity below. Those we source from Kohler, Moen, and Grohe where the original fixture calls for it, or from Cambria’s own fabrication recommendations when the sink is a Cambria-provided vessel.

Signs Your Cambria Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • A hairline crack running from the sink cutout toward the front edge. This is the most common failure we see in Los Angeles, and it is usually caused by the slab being under-supported at the sink. When the original install skipped a support bracket or used a thin plywood base, the weight of a cast iron undermount sink or a heavy vessel sink stresses the quartz along the narrowest point. Cambria is strong, but it is not flexible.
  • A visible seam opening between two Cambria pieces. Cambria seams are filled with an adhesive color-matched to the slab, but seasonal humidity shifts and the minor movement older Los Angeles homes experience can crack the seam filler. This is especially true in hillside homes in Echo Park and Mount Washington, where the structure moves slightly throughout the year.
  • Water staining or darkening around the faucet holes. Cambria is non-porous, so the staining usually means the faucet seal has failed and water is sitting on the underside of the deck, wicking up around the holes. Left alone, this can corrode the faucet hardware and loosen the slab from its substrate over time.
  • The sink has dropped or shifted below the countertop. Undermount sinks are held by clips and adhesive. When the adhesive fails, the sink begins to pull away, and the gap you see is the clip losing its hold. This is the quiet beginning of a bigger problem, because the Cambria edge around the sink is now carrying uneven weight.
  • A dull, cloudy patch that will not polish back. Cambria does not require sealing, but hard water in Los Angeles, particularly in the San Fernando Valley, can leave mineral buildup that etches the polished finish if left for years. We can often restore the surface with Cambria-approved polish, but deeply etched areas in a matte finish usually require replacement of that section.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A remodeled kitchen with a waterfall island and wood cabinets

For Cambria bathroom remodeling in Los Angeles, a complete bathroom remodel runs $10,620 to $33,040. If you are replacing just a failed Cambria vanity top, the work usually lands in the lower portion of that range. A simple 36-inch to 48-inch vanity top replacement on a vanity that is staying in place will often run $2,360 to $7,670 when you include the Cambria slab, fabrication, sink mounting, and installation. A larger project, such as a full bathroom remodel with a new Cambria vanity top, tub deck, and shower surround, climbs toward the $20,000 to $33,000 range depending on how much Cambria surface area you are installing and whether the vanity, plumbing, and tile work are being replaced at the same time.

Every price we give is written before any work starts. That means the cost of the Cambria slab, fabrication, delivery, installation, sink mounting, sealing, and the clean-up afterward are all on the paper. If something changes mid-project, the change is written and agreed to before the work continues. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work, so if a seam opens or a sink shifts within the first year, we come back and make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

There is a safe version of DIY here, and there is a version that will cost you more than the original repair. You can check the sink clips under the vanity, wipe down the slab to see if the crack is just surface staining, and look for water damage in the cabinet below. Those are good, useful checks. What you should not do is try to remove or re-set a cracked Cambria slab. These slabs weigh 20 to 30 pounds per square foot, a 3cm vanity top can weigh 200 pounds or more, and a cracked piece can shift suddenly. We have also seen homeowners try to fill a Cambria seam with hardware-store epoxy, and the result is a seam that looks worse than the crack and costs more to correct, because the wrong filler has to be ground out before the proper color-matched adhesive can be applied.

If you are in Los Angeles and want us to look at the damage, call (949) 850-9896. We will walk you through what we are seeing, give you a written price for the replacement, and if it is a straightforward Cambria vanity top swap, we can usually schedule it within a few days.
