CertainTeed Roofing: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We install and service CertainTeed roofing across Los Angeles, and most component-level repairs run between $470 and $2,125 depending on what failed and how much decking or underlayment needs attention. If you’re calling us about a CertainTeed roof, it’s usually because a ridge cap lifted after a Santa Ana wind event, a pipe boot cracked somewhere above the kitchen, or a section of shingles started shedding granules faster than the rest of the roof. We’ll match the exact CertainTeed product line you have, price the repair in writing before any work starts, and leave the property the way the Cedarwell Care Promise describes: drop cloths where debris might fall, shoe covers at the door, and a photo of the clean-up before the crew pulls away.
Which CertainTeed Models This Applies To

The most common CertainTeed lines we see on Los Angeles homes are Landmark, Landmark Pro, Presidential Shake, and XT 25 three-tab. Each line has a different exposure, shingle thickness, and nail placement specification, so the first thing we do on a repair call is check the underside of a lifted shingle for the manufacturing code, or look at the original paperwork if the roof was installed while you owned the home. CertainTeed color lots also shift slightly between production runs, which matters on a repair: a Landmark in weathered wood from 2015 will not match a bundle produced in 2023 perfectly. Where a close match is not possible and the repair is on a visible slope, we’ll tell you that before we start, and give you the option of a full slope replacement rather than a patch that reads as a patch. Our position on OEM versus aftermarket is simple: for shingles, ridge caps, and starter strips, we use CertainTeed OEM products because the profile interlock and the manufacturer warranty depend on it. For underlayment, fasteners, and pipe boots, we use quality equivalents that meet or exceed the original spec when OEM is on backorder, which happens more often than you’d expect.
We are an independent Los Angeles contractor and are not affiliated with CertainTeed. We install and repair their products because the warranty and the material availability hold up well here.

Signs Your CertainTeed Roofing Is Failing
- Granules collecting in gutters or at downspout elbows. CertainTeed shingles shed some granules out of the gate, but if you’re scooping a cup of granules out of a gutter every month, the asphalt matrix is oxidizing faster than it should, often due to trapped heat from poor attic ventilation.
- Curling or lifting shingle corners on one slope, not the others. This points to underlayment failure or trapped moisture beneath that slope, not a product defect. In Los Angeles, west-facing slopes get hammered by afternoon sun and fail years before the rest of the roof.
- Ridge cap shingles lifting after wind. Ridge caps take the full force of Santa Ana gusts, and if the original install used nails that were too short or the wrong pattern, those caps will lift repeatedly. Re-nailing usually doesn’t fix it; the cap needs to be replaced with the correct profile.
- A damp spot or drip inside, usually a few days after heavy rain. By the time water shows up on a ceiling, it’s traveled. The actual breach could be a cracked pipe boot, a failing valley, or a puncture no one saw. We trace it, and we don’t just patch the ceiling.
- Shingles that break when bent, even slightly. A healthy CertainTeed shingle flexes. A brittle one snaps. Brittleness on a roof under ten years old often traces back to installation over an old layer of shingles that traps heat, which is a Los Angeles-specific problem on older homes that got a cheap reroof decades ago.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Roof repair on a CertainTeed system in Los Angeles runs $470 to $2,125 for most component-level work: a cracked pipe boot, a lifted ridge cap section, a small slope repair, or a valley that’s pulling apart. Full roof replacement runs $9,440 to $23,600, and includes tear-off, dry-in, all CertainTeed layers, flashing, and clean-up. What drives the number is access, slope pitch, how many layers we’re removing, and whether the decking beneath is still sound. We hand you a written scope before any work starts, with the line items separated, so you can see exactly what the materials cost and what the labor costs. If we discover decking rot after we tear off, we stop, show you what we found, and get your sign-off on the change before we proceed. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every repair we complete: if it’s not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
What a homeowner can safely do is inspect from the ground or from a ladder, photograph anything that looks off, and clear debris from gutters and valleys if you’re comfortable on a ladder. What you should not do is walk a tile or shingle roof if it’s steep, and you should never attempt a repair on any section that requires removing and reinstalling underlayment. Roofing work on a second story or a steep pitch is genuinely dangerous, and the injuries are not minor. If you’re not sure, send us a photo. We’ll tell you whether it can wait, whether it can’t, and what it’ll cost either way. Call (949) 850-9896 and a person will answer, day or night.
FAQs

A correctly installed CertainTeed Landmark roof in Los Angeles typically lasts 18 to 25 years, though west-facing slopes and homes without ridge ventilation can cut that shorter. Annual inspection of flashing, boots, and ridge caps is the cheapest life extension you can buy.
Yes, if the damage is isolated and the surrounding shingles are still flexible and holding granules. We’ll tell you honestly if the slope is too far gone for a patch to make sense, because patching an end-of-life roof just moves the leak.
Most component-level CertainTeed repairs are completed in half a day. A full slope replacement can take one to two days. We’ll give you a written window before we start, and we respect quiet hours if you’ve got a child napping.
We keep common CertainTeed ridge caps, starter strips, pipe boots, and a range of Landmark colors on our Los Angeles trucks, and we’ll check your shingle code before we arrive so the right match is on hand. We also stock and install parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone projects, so if your roofing issue is part of a larger remodel, one call covers more ground.
Call (949) 850-9896 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll help you figure out whether it’s urgent, what it’ll cost, and when we can get there.
