CGI Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have a CGI bathroom fixture, cabinet, or surface that has failed or is failing, we can source the correct replacement and complete the surrounding remodel work, with most CGI-related bathroom projects in Los Angeles running $10,620 to $33,040 depending on scope. We are not affiliated with CGI, but we work with their product lines regularly and know which parts cross over and which do not. Owners usually find us the same way: a cabinet door that will not stay aligned, a sink basin with a hairline crack along the bowl, or a shower trim kit that has started to corrode around the cartridge. You call because you want the part matched correctly and the work done without turning a single fixture replacement into a three-week ordeal.
Which CGI Models This Applies To
CGI bathroom products span several series lines, and the part you need depends on which one is installed. We see the CGI-style vanities, mirrored medicine cabinets, and the occasional shower enclosure across Los Angeles homes built or remodeled between roughly 2005 and 2020. The fastest way to identify your piece is to open the cabinet door or drawer and look for a small foil label on the inside of the box or the underside of the drawer. That label carries the model prefix and sometimes a manufacturing date stamp. If the label has worn off, we measure the door overlay, the hinge bore pattern, and the drawer slide length, because CGI cabinetry used both a 35mm concealed hinge and a face-frame clip hinge depending on the year. One thing to know: CGI vanity drawers and doors are not universal. A drawer front from one series will not seat properly on another, even if the outside dimensions match. For hardware and trim, aftermarket options from Moen and Kohler often work beautifully, but for doors, drawer boxes, and sink basins we recommend OEM CGI or a matching custom piece. The wrong aftermarket door can leave a 3/16-inch reveal gap that catches your eye every time you walk in.

Signs Your CGI Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet doors drift out of alignment even after tightening. The hinge mounting points in the door stile have stripped or the door itself has absorbed moisture and swelled. In Los Angeles, this happens most often in bathrooms with poor exhaust ventilation, where steam sits on the cabinetry daily.
- Drawer slides catch, grind, or let the drawer sag. The ball-bearing slide has worn or the mounting screws have pulled free from the drawer box. CGI drawers from certain years used a side-mount slide that cannot be swapped for a modern undermount without rebuilding the drawer opening.
- Hairline cracks in the sink basin or countertop edge. These usually start at a corner or around the drain opening and grow slowly. A crack that holds water temporarily is still a crack. Once it reaches the drain flange, the basin must come out.
- Shower trim and handles show green or white crust at the joints. Los Angeles water is hard in most neighborhoods, and the mineral buildup eventually eats into the finish. If the trim is pitted, the cartridge behind it is usually not far behind.
- Mirror or medicine cabinet door swings loose and will not stay closed. The integrated hinge or catch has failed. Some CGI medicine cabinets used a plastic catch that becomes brittle with age. The cabinet box is typically fine; the door hardware is the weak point.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Bathroom remodeling projects involving CGI products in Los Angeles carry a wide range because the scope rarely stops at one part. A vanity swap lands between $945 and $3,540 for the furniture piece alone, while a full bathroom remodel with new CGI-compatible cabinetry, countertop, shower, and flooring runs $10,620 to $33,040. The price is driven by whether we are replacing one cabinet front or rebuilding the wet wall, whether the shower pan stays or comes out, and whether the existing plumbing needs to move. Every Elmstead Remodeling project includes a written price before any work starts. That price names the exact CGI part or equivalent, the hours, and the finish level, and it does not change after the crew arrives. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work: if it is not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself before calling, and we would rather you do that than pay a service fee for something simple. Confirm the model label, take a photo of the hinge or slide type, and measure the door or drawer front. What we would not recommend is pulling a CGI vanity drawer box apart or attempting a basin swap on your own. The plumbing connections, the sink rim seal, and the cabinet alignment all have to be reset perfectly or you will be looking at water damage inside the vanity within a year. We have also seen well-meaning homeowners order a “universal” drawer slide that did not fit the CGI drawer profile and ended up splitting the drawer side. If the part is failed, call (949) 850-9896. Graham Stein has been working on Los Angeles homes for going on two decades, and he will tell you straight whether the fix is a one-part job or a full replacement.
FAQs

A CGI vanity or shower enclosure in a well-ventilated Los Angeles bathroom should give you 15 to 20 years of service, sometimes longer. The failure points are almost always the moving parts and the finishes, not the cabinet boxes. Hard water and daily steam shorten the lifespan of hinges, slides, catches, and trim finishes well before the structure gives out. Call (949) 850-9896 if you are unsure whether your issue is wear or something more serious.
Some parts can be repaired, and we will always quote you the repair option first if it is viable. Stripped hinge mounts can sometimes be plugged and re-drilled, and drawer slides can often be replaced without touching the drawer box. Cracked sink basins and pitted shower trim cannot be repaired reliably. Call (949) 850-9896 for an honest assessment.
A single cabinet door or drawer slide replacement takes about one to two hours on site once the part is in hand. A full vanity or shower replacement typically runs two to four working days. We give you a written schedule with the estimate so you know which days the crew will be in the house and which hours we will try to keep quiet for naps and schoolwork.
We stock common replacement hinges, drawer slides, and catches on the truck, along with trim hardware from Kohler, Moen, Grohe, KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone. CGI-specific door fronts, drawer boxes, and sink basins are ordered by model number once we confirm the match. Call (949) 850-9896 and we can tell you within the first conversation whether your part is on the truck or needs to be ordered.
