Delta Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We install and service Delta-brand driveway pavers and paver systems across Los Angeles, with most replacements running $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage, base condition, and paver style. If you have a cracked, sunken, or separating Delta paver section, we can usually diagnose it the same week and give you a written price before any work starts. Most Los Angeles homeowners first notice the problem after rain, when a low spot holds water against the garage door, or when a paver shifts under a car tire and the edges start spalling in the summer heat.
We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not a Delta company or warranty provider. What we offer is the installation and parts knowledge to match the right replacement pavers to your existing Delta layout, including the base repair work underneath that determines whether a replacement actually lasts.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta’s paver line in Los Angeles runs mostly through their Holland stone and tumbled interlocking series, with three common sizes on residential driveways: 4″x8″ (60mm), 6″x9″ (60mm), and 6″x6″ (80mm for heavier vehicle loads). The 80mm thickness is the one we see on driveways that carry SUVs and trucks daily, and it’s the one we recommend for any Los Angeles driveway with a slope steeper than 4%, which describes a lot of hillside properties in Echo Park and Mount Washington.
Before ordering, check the underside of a lifted paver for the Delta mold stamp, which includes a series code. If that stamp is worn off, measure the paver exactly, including thickness, because Delta changed their 60mm tolerance slightly around 2016. A paver that looks identical but runs a millimeter thicker will leave a visible lip after installation. For OEM versus aftermarket: Delta still makes the core sizes, and for color consistency we strongly prefer their current production over third-party copies, especially on sun-facing Los Angeles driveways where lesser pavers fade unevenly within three summers.

Signs Your Delta Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- Water pooling against the garage slab after a normal rain. This usually means the sand bed has washed out beneath the pavers, often because a downspout discharges too close to the driveway edge. We see this constantly in Los Angeles homes built before current drainage codes.
- A paver rocking or clicking underfoot. One loose paver is rarely just one loose paver. It means the edge restraint has failed somewhere and the interlock is starting to loosen from the outside in.
- Hairline cracks across multiple pavers in a line. That line is usually telling you where the concrete base underneath has cracked, and it will telegraph through every paver set on top of it until the base is repaired.
- Color fading that has turned chalky white. Los Angeles UV exposure is brutal on the pigment in concrete pavers. Delta pavers fade slower than most, but after 12 to 15 years in direct full-day sun, even the best color runs pale. A quality sealant can slow it but not stop it.
- Weeds growing through joints every few weeks. This means the polymeric sand has broken down and the joints are now open to soil. The pavers are not failing yet, but the system is. Left alone, the joint erosion leads to shifting within a year.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Paver driveway installation in Los Angeles runs $8,260 – $21,240 for a typical two-car driveway, with concrete driveway alternatives at $5,310 – $14,160 for comparison. What moves the Delta number: the square footage, whether we are patching a section or rebuilding the whole base, and what is under the pavers today. Most Los Angeles driveways over 15 years old have a compacted sand-and-gravel base that has settled unevenly, and reusing it is false economy for a section larger than about 80 square feet.
Every quote includes the full scope in writing: demolition of the failed section, base excavation and re-compaction, new bedding sand, the replacement Delta pavers, edge restraint, polymeric sand in the joints, and haul-away of the old material. The price on the paper is the price. If we uncover something unexpected when we open the base, we stop and explain it before any added cost is agreed to. That is the Cedarwell Care Promise we work under on every job.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely inspect the drainage around your driveway without calling anyone. Walk the perimeter during the next rain and watch where water enters the paver field and where it exits. That tells you more than any photo. You can also lift one edge paver with a flat pry bar and check whether the sand beneath is still level or has washed toward the low corner.
What goes wrong with DIY on Delta pavers is the base. Replacing individual pavers without re-compacting what is beneath them leaves you with a patch that sinks again within a season, and cutting interlocking pavers to fit edges takes a wet saw and a calm hand. If the failed area is more than a few pavers, or if you have a slope involved, call us at (949) 850-9896. We will give you a written price before any work begins.
FAQs

Delta interlocking pavers on a properly compacted base typically last 20 – 30 years in Los Angeles before the stones themselves need replacement, though the sand joints usually need re-sanding every 5 – 8 years and the base may need attention after 15 – 20 depending on drainage and soil movement. Our climate helps: no freeze-thaw cycling means pavers stay put, but UV is the tradeoff. Call (949) 850-9896 for a free assessment of your specific driveway.
Yes, sections under about 80 square feet can often be lifted, the base re-leveled and re-compacted, and the same pavers re-set with new sand. This runs less than a full replacement. The catch is matching the sand color and accepting that existing pavers will keep their faded tone next to any new ones. We’ll tell you honestly if a repair will look worse than a replacement before you spend anything.
A sectional replacement of 100 – 200 square feet typically takes 2 – 3 working days in Los Angeles, including demolition, base work, paver install, and joint sanding. A full two-car driveway runs 4 – 6 days. Weather matters less here than most places, but we schedule around your household’s quiet hours where possible and leave the site swept and photographed before we go.
We do not stock Delta pavers on service trucks, because color lots vary between production runs and we want every order to match your existing field. We order directly by mold stamp and lot when possible, which adds a day or two but means the driveway looks right. For homeowners who want to see the exact stone first, we also work with Cambria and Silestone for hardscape-adjacent surfaces and KraftMaid for related home projects, and we can coordinate samples the same week.
No, not without your written approval. The scope we agree on before any work begins is the scope we install at that price. If we open up the base and find something genuinely different from what we quoted, we stop, show you, and agree on any change in writing first. Graham Stein has said it on job sites across Los Angeles for years: “The written scope is the promise – if it is not on the paper, we have not agreed to it yet.” Call (949) 850-9896 to schedule a free estimate and get your written price.
