Delta Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Delta fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete vinyl fence system, including posts, rails, panels, and labor. We stock Delta-compatible materials and can usually start within a week of your written estimate. Most owners discover their Delta fence has failed the same way: a panel sags against a post, a gate drags across the concrete, or a section leans after a Santa Ana wind event. The failure is rarely the vinyl itself. It is almost always what sits underground or what holds the section together.
Elmstead Remodeling is an independent general contractor. We are not affiliated with Delta, but we install and repair Delta fence systems across Los Angeles, from Silver Lake to Sherman Oaks to Pasadena. Graham Stein grew up in Silver Lake, and he has worked on Los Angeles homes for nearly two decades. He will tell you the same thing on every fence job: the written scope is the promise – if it is not on the paper, we have not agreed to it yet.
Which Delta Models This Applies To

Delta manufactures vinyl, aluminum, and wood-composite fence lines, and the compatibility question is the first thing we check on-site. Your fence section will have a stamped code on the inside of the rail, usually near the post cap or along the bottom rail channel. That code tells us the series, the profile height, and the rail width. Common Delta profiles in Los Angeles include the 6-foot privacy panel with a 1.5- to 2-inch-thick post wall, and the semi-private picket line with 3.5-inch picket spacing. If the stamp has worn off, we measure the rail channel opening. A Delta rail accepts a specific tongue depth, and a close-match aftermarket panel from another brand will sit loose or bind against the post insert.
The OEM-versus-aftermarket decision matters more with Delta than with most brands because Delta uses a locking rail tab system on many of its privacy lines. Aftermarket panels often lack that tab, which means the rail slides laterally over time, especially on sloped Los Angeles lots where one post carries more lateral load than the others. We match OEM where the locking tab is present, and we use a billet-aluminum insert for post reinforcement, not the plastic insert that ships with some entry-level Delta kits. In Los Angeles, the UV breaks down plastic inserts within six or seven summers. Aluminum does not care.

Signs Your Delta Fence Installation Is Failing
- Leaning post at the gate hinge: The post footing was poured too shallow for Los Angeles soil, or the gate weight is pulling the post off plumb. You will see the gate latch miss the strike plate by a quarter inch before the lean becomes obvious.
- Rail sag between posts: Delta rails span a set distance, and when a section is cut too long, or a post shifts in expansive soil, the rail bows in the middle. This is the most common failure we see in the San Fernando Valley, where clay soil moves with every wet winter.
- Panel rattle in the wind: The locking rail tab has cracked or the panel was never seated fully into the post channel. Santa Ana winds will turn a loose panel into a stress crack at the rail end within a season.
- Gate drag on the concrete: The hinge screws have backed out of the post, or the post has rotated in its footing. Dragging wears the gate corner and every Los Angeles home with a pool knows that corner takes the abuse.
- White chalk on your hands: Vinyl oxidation, normal for Delta fences over a decade old in direct Los Angeles sun. It is cosmetic, but it signals the panel surface is aging faster than the structure.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full Delta fence installation in Los Angeles, plan on $4,130 to $10,620. The spread is driven by linear footage, post depth, soil type, the number of gates, and whether we are pulling an old concrete footing or starting clean. A typical 50-foot run with one gate lands near the middle of that range. A 100-foot run with two gates, steel-reinforced posts, and a sloped lot lands higher.
Every estimate is a written price before any work starts. That price includes demolition and haul-away of the failed section, new post footings with the depth sized to Los Angeles soil and wind load, the Delta-compatible panels and rails, all post caps and gate hardware, and a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves. We do not charge extra for shoe covers and drop cloths during any interior access on your property. The work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it is not done right after the job is complete, we make it right.

You can safely check the stamped code on your rail, the post spacing, and whether the gate latch still lines up. You can compare those measurements against your original Delta paperwork if you kept it. What you should not do is pull a leaning post out of a wet Los Angeles footing by hand, or cut a rail to length without a miter saw and a square work surface. A cracked rail end is not a repairable mistake. It is a new rail, a new shipping delay, and a second trip back to the supply yard.
Fence work is also where the ground tells you what it wants. In parts of Los Angeles, that means clay that expands with winter rain. In hillside areas, it means decomposed granite that will not hold a shallow footing. Graham has learned over the years that no two lots in this city behave the same, even two houses apart. If you want to know whether your existing footings can be reused before you spend a dollar on new panels, call (949) 850-9896 and ask for a written estimate. We will walk the fence line with you and tell you what is actually worth replacing.
FAQs

A Delta vinyl fence installed with aluminum post inserts and footings sized to Los Angeles soil typically lasts 20 to 25 years, with panel surfaces beginning to show UV oxidation around year ten. Gates fail first, usually at the hinge hardware, not the panel.
Yes, if the post itself is not cracked and the footing has not shifted more than a few degrees off plumb, we can often reset the post with a deeper concrete collar and steel reinforcement. Call (949) 850-9896 for an exact assessment – estimates are free.
Most single-section Delta fence installations in Los Angeles take one to two days, with concrete cure time before the gate is hung. Full-perimeter installations typically run three to five days, depending on post count and old footing removal.
We source Delta-compatible panels, rails, posts, and gate hardware from our Los Angeles suppliers before the crew arrives, so you will not be asked to order parts yourself or pay a second delivery fee.
If your Delta fence section is leaning, sagging, or dragging, call (949) 850-9896 for a free written estimate. We also work with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone on kitchen and bath projects, so the same crew that handles your fence can take care of the rest of the house when you are ready.
