Dvele Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your Dvele driveway or paver hardscape is cracked, sinking, or pulling away from the home, we install compatible replacements and repairs that match your existing layout, with typical installed work in Los Angeles ranging from $826 to $21,240 depending on whether we’re patching a section or re-laying the full run. We stock common paver sizes and base materials on our trucks, so most assessments turn into a written quote the same day we walk the property. Homeowners usually discover the problem after a winter rain: a paver that was flush in September has settled an inch by February, leaving a lip that catches a stroller wheel or a dog’s paw.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele homes in Southern California ship with a range of driveway and hardscape surfaces depending on the build year and the site plan. The most common configurations we see in Los Angeles are interlocking concrete pavers over a compacted aggregate base, though some earlier builds used poured concrete with paver accents at the entry walk and side yard. The practical question is not the model name but the paver dimensions and the base condition beneath them. Measure a single paver’s length, width, and thickness before calling. That tells us whether it’s a 60mm pedestrian-grade unit or an 80mm vehicular-grade unit, and that one number changes the quote.
Dvele works with standard modular paver dimensions, typically 4×8, 6×9, and 8×8 rectangular units in gray, charcoal, and warm sand tones. The OEM pavers are concrete, not clay, and they use a specific joint sand with a binder additive that hardens slightly after sweeping. You can use a quality aftermarket equivalent from Belgard, Calstone, or Angelus if the dimensions and color family match, but the joint sand should be the polymeric type to match the original installation’s behavior. We’ll walk the site and tell you honestly whether a patch blends invisibly or whether you’re better off redoing a defined section with a clean seam line.

Signs Your Dvele Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers have rotated or lifted at one corner. This is almost always base failure, not paver failure. Water has undermined the compacted aggregate underneath, and nothing you do to the surface will hold until the base is addressed.
- Joint sand is washing out after every rain. In Los Angeles, our dry summers bake the binder out of the sand. Once the joints are empty, pavers shift under car tires and the whole field starts moving.
- A low spot holds water for more than a day after rain. This points to a drainage problem under the driveway, often caused by insufficient slope or a clogged area drain. Standing water accelerates base erosion and paver movement.
- You can feel a lip or edge when walking from the driveway to the garage slab. Even a half-inch step means the driveway is settling while the foundation stays put. Left alone, the gap widens and pulls the edge course with it.
- Efflorescence is spreading in white patches. The white powder is harmless to concrete but signals water moving through the paver itself, which means the surface seal has failed and the unit is absorbing moisture it should be shedding.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, paver driveway installation runs $8260 to $21,240 for a full run, while smaller paver patio work sits between $4130 and $12,980. A repair that only requires re-bedding and re-laying a section will land at the lower end of the range; a full replacement that includes removing the old base, re-compacting, and installing new edge restraints will push higher. The single biggest cost driver is base depth. Dvele driveways built to support two-car traffic need at least six to eight inches of compacted base in most Los Angeles soil conditions, and cutting corners there is how driveways end up failing twice.
Every job includes removal and haul-off of the old pavers and base, new aggregate base installed and compacted, new edge restraints, the pavers themselves, polymeric joint sand, and a final compaction pass. We give you a written price before any work starts, and the price does not change once the crew arrives. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed installation: if the pavers shift or settle within a year, we come back and make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely measure your pavers, clear leaves and debris out of the joints, and note where water pools after rain. You can also hose-test your area drains to see if water is moving. What you should not do is pull up a sunken paver and start adding sand underneath. Without a plate compactor and the right base material, that patch will settle again within a season, and you’ll be chasing the same lip forever. Driveway paver work is also hard on the body to do properly; a full re-base means moving thousands of pounds of aggregate. If the joints are emptying or the field is shifting, call us at (949) 850-9896 and we’ll assess it properly. There’s no charge for the walkthrough, and you’ll have a written number the same day.
FAQs

Concrete pavers on a properly compacted base typically last 25 to 40 years in Los Angeles, but the base beneath them may need attention at the 15 to 20 year mark due to soil movement and water erosion. The pavers themselves rarely crack; it’s the foundation that fails. Call us at (949) 850-9896 and we’ll tell you whether you’re looking at a base repair or a surface refresh.
A single cracked paver can be swapped in under an hour if we can source a matching unit or a close equivalent from brands like Calstone or Belgard. If multiple pavers are cracked across the field, that’s a symptom of a deeper base problem, and patching the surface will not stop the movement. We’ll show you exactly what’s failing when we walk the site.
A section repair typically takes one to two days. A full driveway removal, re-base, and re-lay in Los Angeles usually runs three to five working days depending on square footage and access. We set the schedule with your family’s routine in mind, and we keep the work area contained with drop cloths and shoe covers at any door the crew passes through.
We keep common Dvele-compatible paver sizes in 60mm and 80mm thicknesses on our trucks, along with polymeric joint sand and compacted aggregate base. For less common color matches, we source from local Los Angeles suppliers who carry the standard concrete paver lines, and we’ll bring samples to your door before you commit. Elmstead Remodeling also works with named-brand material partners like KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone on interior work, so we’re comfortable matching specifications across the whole home.
Graham Stein grew up in Silver Lake before the reservoir path was open to the public, and he’s been walking driveways and patios across Los Angeles for close to two decades. He’ll tell you the same thing on every site: the written scope is the promise – if it is not on the paper, we have not agreed to it yet. That’s how we price driveway and paver work, and it’s why families call us back when the next part of the home needs attention. Elmstead Remodeling is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with Dvele. We stock and install compatible materials, and we stand behind our work with the 365-Day Done Right Promise.
