PGT Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you own a home in Los Angeles with a kitchen originally built around PGT products, and something has failed or is failing, we can help you get the right part matched and installed. A PGT kitchen remodel in Los Angeles typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on scope, with part replacement work often landing on the lower end when the surrounding cabinets and counters are still sound. Most part-level fixes we handle are complete in one to two visits, not weeks.

The way owners usually discover a problem is quiet at first: a cabinet door that no longer closes flush, a counter edge that has started to pull away from the wall, or a handle set that wiggles loose no matter how many times it is tightened. By the time it is visible, the underlying part has often been failing for months.

Which PGT Models This Applies To

A small remodeled galley kitchen with cabinets to the ceiling

PGT built its name in the Los Angeles market on window and door systems, but many kitchens we open up contain PGT-fabricated cabinet frames, trim packages, and hardware sets that were installed as part of a broader remodel. The compatibility question matters because PGT changed hardware hole spacing and hinge cup diameters across production years. A handle set drilled for 3-inch centers will not fit a 96mm pull without drilling new holes, and re-drilling a finished door face is where finish damage happens.

If the label is still on the drawer box or inside the cabinet frame, write down the series code before calling anyone. If the label is gone, measure the hardware center-to-center and the hinge cup diameter, and take a photo of the door edge profile. That tells us whether we are matching an OEM part or recommending a quality aftermarket equivalent. We are an independent Los Angeles contractor, not affiliated with PGT, which means we can source either path honestly: OEM where the finish match matters, aftermarket where the original part was underbuilt to begin with.

Signs Your PGT Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing

  • Cabinet doors drift out of alignment. The hinge cup or mounting plate has worn, or the screw holes in the particleboard frame have stripped. Once the screw holes strip, the hinge will never hold again without a repair plate or new door.
  • Drawer slides catch or bind. The ball-bearing slides PGT used on some Los Angeles-era installs lose their nylon cages after years of dry heat exposure. The drawer still opens, but the slide is scoring the cabinet interior.
  • Countertop seams open near the sink. In Los Angeles, the seasonal swell of interior wood framing pulls at the adhesive line. A seam that has opened once will reopen unless we address the framing movement, not just re-caulk the surface.
  • Handles and pulls spin or loosen. The machine screws have backed out or the threaded insert has lost its bite. This is the most common failure we see, and it is often paired with a finish that has worn through to the base metal.
  • Soft-close mechanisms stop working. The damper inside the hinge or slide has lost its fluid. The door still closes, but it slams, and a slammed door on a particleboard frame is what starts the crack that becomes a bigger repair.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

New painted shaker cabinets with an organized deep drawer

For PGT part-level kitchen work in Los Angeles, you are looking at these installed ranges, and we give you a written price before any work starts:

  • Cabinet door and hinge replacement: $4,720 – $15,340 depending on door count and finish matching
  • Countertop seam repair or section replacement: $2,360 – $7,670
  • Drawer slide and hardware replacement: $945 – $3,540 typically
  • Full PGT kitchen remodel: $16,520 – $53,100

What drives the range is finish matching. A painted door we can match in-house is less than a stained door that needs a custom stain-and-seal pass. A laminate seam repair is fast; a solid-surface seam that needs re-cutting and re-bonding is not. Every price includes the part, the labor, the drop cloths, the shoe covers, and the photo of the clean-up before we leave. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to the work: if it is not done right, we make it right.

DIY or Call Us?

If the issue is a loose handle or a hinge screw that simply backed out, a careful owner can retighten it and check the others in the same run. That is reasonable. What we would not recommend doing yourself is re-drilling door faces, pulling a countertop section, or trying to rebuild a stripped hinge cup without a repair jig, because a misaligned hole on a finished door is not reversible. We have also seen homeowners order a handle set online, discover the hole spacing does not match, and drill new holes too close to the old ones, which splits the stile. At that point the door is compromised.

If you would rather not risk the finish, call us at (949) 850-9896. We will match the part, source the right finish, and the written scope is the promise: if it is not on the paper, we have not agreed to it yet.
