Silestone Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have a Silestone surface in your bathroom and something has failed around it – a cracked vanity top, tile that’s pulling away, a shower pan that’s leaking into the wall – we stock and install Silestone-compatible replacement materials across Los Angeles, with most bathroom remodels running $10,620 to $33,040 depending on scope. The typical phone call starts the same way: a sink edge chipped, water staining the quartz at the seam, or a countertop that’s shifted just enough to let water creep underneath. By the time we arrive, the owner usually knows something is wrong but not whether it’s the surface, the substrate, or the plumbing underneath.
We’re an independent Los Angeles remodeling contractor, not a Silestone dealer or affiliate. What that means for you: we can match your existing Silestone color and finish, but we won’t push you into a full replacement if the surface itself is sound. Sometimes the problem is the caulk joint, sometimes it’s the cabinet frame underneath, and sometimes the quartz really does need to come out. We’ll tell you which one it is, in writing, before any work starts.
Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone is a quartz surface made by Cosentino, and it’s been installed in Los Angeles bathrooms since the early 2000s. The product line has shifted over the years – older installs often feature Series 1 and Series 2 colors like Blanco Zeus, Rosa Minerva, or Grey Expo, while more recent bathrooms lean toward the Ethereal and Loft series with softer veining. What matters for a repair or remodel isn’t the color name alone; it’s the thickness and the edge profile. Most bathroom vanities in Los Angeles use 2cm or 3cm slabs, and the edge style – eased, beveled, or ogee – determines whether a replacement piece can be cut to match what you already have.
Here’s a compatibility gotcha we run into often: Silestone has changed the color names over the years, and discontinued colors don’t always have a direct current match. If your vanity is a Series 1 color that Cosentino stopped producing, a fabricator can sometimes match it from a current line, but we’ll show you the slab before it’s cut so you can see the difference in natural light. Synthetic quartz also fades slightly under strong Los Angeles sun; a color that’s been in a bathroom with a west-facing window for fifteen years won’t match a brand-new slab of the same name exactly. We handle that by cutting the new piece from a slab area we select together, not by promising a perfect match and hoping you won’t notice.

Signs Your Silestone Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Hairline cracks running from the sink cutout. This is the most common failure point on any quartz vanity. The narrow strip between the sink rim and the front edge of the counter carries a lot of stress, and if the cabinet underneath has settled or the original install didn’t add adequate support, the quartz cracks there first. In older Los Angeles homes with wood framing, seasonal moisture changes make this worse.
- Discoloration or dark staining along the seam. Quartz is non-porous, but the seam is not. If the original installer used a cheap polyester adhesive, water and soap scum work into the joint and darken it. Once that staining sets, no amount of scrubbing removes it – the seam needs to be reopened, cleaned, and re-bonded.
- The counter has shifted or dropped on one side. This tells us the problem is the cabinet or the shims underneath, not the Silestone itself. Los Angeles homes on expansive clay soil move seasonally, and a cabinet that was level when installed may not be level five years later.
- Water pooling at the backsplash joint. Quartz itself won’t rot, but the drywall behind it will. If the silicone bead between the counter and the wall has pulled away, water gets behind the vanity and into the wall cavity. By the time you see the stain, the drywall is already damaged.
- A dull or etched spot that won’t polish out. Silestone is resistant to most household chemicals, but older finish lines had a slightly softer resin content. If someone used an abrasive cleaner or a harsh acid, the surface can lose its gloss in that spot. A refinisher can sometimes restore it, but we’re honest with you if the better answer is replacing that one section.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A full bathroom remodel in Los Angeles with Silestone surfaces typically lands between $10,620 and $33,040. A smaller job – replacing just the vanity top or repairing a sink cutout – will fall toward the lower end or below it. The big drivers are whether we’re pulling and replacing the vanity structure, whether the shower surround comes into scope, and whether the plumbing needs rerouting.
| Scope | Typical Los Angeles Range |
|---|---|
| Silestone vanity top replacement (small bathroom) | $5,900 – $14,160 |
| Bathroom remodel with Silestone counter and new vanity | $10,620 – $23,600 |
| Full primary bath remodel with Silestone surfaces, walk-in shower | $17,700 – $33,040 |
Every quote we write in Los Angeles includes the material, the fabrication, the tear-out and haul-away, the installation, and the finish work, like the silicone bead and the cabinet alignment. We don’t quote the slab and then “discover” the cost of glue. If it’s on paper, it’s the price. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise applies: if the seam opens up or the top shifts in the first year, we come back and fix it at no charge.

You can safely check a few things yourself. Look under the vanity with a flashlight and see if the cabinet is sitting on the floor or on shims that have crumbled. Run a finger along the seam and feel if it’s rough or separating. But actually removing a Silestone top involves a heavy slab, sharp edges, and a sink with live water lines and a drain – and quartz is not forgiving when dropped. A cracked vanity top that falls during removal can take out the cabinet doors, the tile floor, or someone’s foot. We handle it with vacuum cups, two-person lifts, and the correct jig to protect the sink rim.

FAQs

A properly installed Silestone vanity top will last 20 to 30 years in Los Angeles, and often longer. What fails first is almost never the quartz – it’s the seam adhesive, the silicone caulk, or the cabinet underneath. If those are installed and maintained correctly, the surface itself will outlast most of the house around it. Call (949) 850-9896 if you suspect your surface was installed on a failing structure, and we’ll assess it honestly.
Small chips and shallow surface cracks can sometimes be filled with color-matched epoxy and refinished to the point you can’t find the repair. But a crack that runs through the full thickness of the slab, especially near the sink cutout, will keep traveling under daily use. In those cases replacement of that one section is the honest fix. Call (949) 850-9896 and we’ll tell you which category yours falls into.
Once the slab is selected and templated, the actual swap in Los Angeles takes one day. The template appointment runs about 45 minutes, fabrication takes a week to ten days depending on the fabricator’s schedule, and the install crew removes the old top and sets the new one the same day they arrive. Water is off for a few hours, not days. Call (949) 850-9896 to get on the template schedule.
We order Silestone per job from Cosentino’s Los Angeles distribution network, which means access to current colors and finishes without you paying for warehouse space we’d have to keep. We also work with Cambria, Caesarstone, and Kohler for bathroom surfaces and fixtures if you want to compare. The slab is ordered only after you approve the written quote.
