Silestone Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Silestone driveway and paver components in Los Angeles are primarily quartz-based surface materials and their supporting edge pieces, not the structural base beneath them. If you’re looking at a cracked Silestone paver cap, a chipped edge profile, or a faded surface layer on a driveway accent wall, we stock and install Silestone-compatible replacement materials with typical installed pricing in Los Angeles running $4,130 to $12,980 depending on surface area and the condition of the substrate below. Most Los Angeles owners discover the failure the same way: a hairline crack shows up after a heavy rain season, then widens over one summer of heat, and suddenly a corner piece is loose underfoot.
A note before we go further: Elmstead Remodeling is an independent Los Angeles contractor, not a Silestone factory outlet or affiliate. What that means for you is we can source genuine Silestone quartz slabs and profile pieces by name, but we’re not tied to one supplier’s lead time or pricing structure. Graham Stein, our owner, has been working on Los Angeles homes for nearly two decades, and he’ll tell you the same thing he tells every client: the written scope is the promise. If it is not on the paper, we have not agreed to it yet.
Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone doesn’t manufacture a product line called “driveway pavers” in the traditional concrete-paver sense. What Los Angeles homeowners actually have, when they call us about Silestone driveway work, is one of three things: Silestone quartz slab used as a driveway accent border or entry landing surface, Silestone outdoor-profile quartz used as pool-deck or driveway-adjacent walkway material, or Silestone’s Dekton line (a sintered stone cousin) applied to exterior horizontal surfaces. Each has different compatibility requirements.
The gotcha most owners hit: interior Silestone slabs are rated for indoor use and will delaminate from their backing or fade under Los Angeles UV exposure within a few years if installed outdoors. What you want for any exterior application is Silestone’s outdoor-rated profile or Dekton, which carries a different fire and UV resistance spec. Check the underside of a loose piece or the original invoice: genuine outdoor Silestone carries an “Outdoor” designation, while Dekton pieces have their series name (Dana, Kelya, Orix) printed on the protective film at purchase. If your piece has no outdoor designation and it’s been outside for three-plus Los Angeles summers, the fading and surface crazing you’re seeing is the material telling you it was the wrong spec for the location.
For replacements, we always price both the OEM Silestone piece and a quality aftermarket quartz profile from Cambria or Caesarstone when there’s a color match. The OEM route guarantees an exact batch color, but there’s real value in matching a discontinued Silestone color with a current Cambria tone when Silestone no longer runs that series. We’ll show you samples side by side before anything is ordered.

Signs Your Silestone Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Hairline cracking along the slab edges. This is the earliest warning sign in Los Angeles, and it’s usually thermal cycling: hot days, cool nights, and a substrate that expands at a different rate than the quartz surface. The crack starts at the edge because that’s where the bonding layer is thinnest.
- Surface fading or chalkiness. Interior-rated Silestone used outdoors will lose its resin gloss within two to three years of direct Los Angeles sun. The surface starts feeling gritty rather than polished, and the color washes toward gray regardless of the original tone.
- Lifting or hollow sounds when tapped. When the bonding adhesive fails, the slab separates from its bed. You’ll hear a hollow pocket underfoot or knock test. Left alone, a lifted corner becomes a trip hazard within months.
- Staining that won’t lift with standard cleaning. Quartz is non-porous, which is the selling point, but the resin binders in the wrong material spec will absorb oils from cars, tree sap, or hard water from Los Angeles irrigation systems. If a stain sits for weeks without lifting, the surface resin has compromised.
- Chipped edges or spalling corners. Once the edge is compromised, the piece keeps losing material. Kids tripping, lawn tools bouncing, a car tire clipping a corner. Each chip exposes more of the resin core to moisture and sun, accelerating the failure.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Replacing Silestone-compatible driveway and paver surfaces in Los Angeles typically falls between $4,130 and $12,980, in line with what we see for paver patio and driveway installation work across the region. The low end covers a smaller accent area or walkway section where the substrate beneath is still sound and the existing pieces come up cleanly. The high end accounts for full driveway accent replacement where we’re also rebuilding the setting bed, correcting drainage slope, and replacing edge restraints.
Here’s what’s included in our written price, before any work starts:
- Material. Either genuine Silestone outdoor-profile quartz or an aftermarket match from Cambria or Caesarstone, quoted by the square foot.
- Demolition and haul-away. We remove the failed pieces and dispose of them, including any broken edge fragments.
- Substrate correction. If the base has shifted, we’ll re-level and compact the setting bed so the replacement surface has a flat, stable foundation.
- Adhesive and sealant. Exterior-rated bonding mortar and joint sealant specified for Los Angeles temperature swings.
- Clean-up. Drop cloths during the work, a photo of the finished clean-up before the crew leaves, and all debris removed.
The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to this work. If something isn’t right within a year of the install, we make it right. The written price is the price. No change orders unless the scope changes, and you’ll approve that in writing before any new work starts.

DIY or Call Us?
You can safely identify the failure and take photos for a bid: note where the cracks are, which pieces are loose, and whether you see any signs of the slab pulling away from the base. You can also safely do a tap test with a wooden spoon handle to find hollow spots. Write down the measurements of each affected piece and check for any Silestone or Dekton series markings on the underside or edge.
What we don’t recommend is trying to lift, re-bed, or replace these slabs yourself. The pieces are heavy, the edges are sharp when broken, and the adhesive work requires surface prep and leveling that’s hard to get right without professional tools and experience. A drop-and-break mid-job turns a $900 repair into a $9,000 replacement, and we’ve seen it happen. If you’ve got a question about whether your failure is repairable, call us at (949) 850-9896 before touching anything. We’ll walk you through what you’re looking at.
FAQs

Exterior-rated Silestone and Dekton surfaces installed correctly in Los Angeles can last 20 to 25 years with proper care. Interior-spec Silestone placed outdoors typically fails within three to five years because the resin binder breaks down under sustained UV exposure. The lifespan difference comes down entirely to whether the right product was used for the location.
Small chips and edge spalls can sometimes be filled and color-matched by a stone fabricator, but structural cracks in a load-bearing or walked-on surface should not be patched. The repair will fail at the bond line because the slab is still moving with thermal cycles. For a rough cost on repair versus replacement, call (949) 850-9896 and describe what you’re seeing.
Most Silestone paver and driveway accent replacements in Los Angeles are completed in two to four days, depending on the square footage and whether the setting bed needs rework. A small walkway or border section might be done in one day. We’ll give you a written timeline with the written price so you know exactly what to expect before work begins.
We don’t keep full slabs sitting in a Los Angeles warehouse, but we maintain relationships with local Silestone, Cambria, and Caesarstone distributors and can typically have material delivered within three to seven business days of a signed scope. For discontinued Silestone colors, we’ll source a match and show it to you in person before ordering. The exception is common outdoor Dekton series, which we can sometimes pull the same week.
