Wellborn Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have Wellborn cabinetry in your bathroom and something has failed, a hinge plate, a drawer glide, a door panel that no longer sits flush, a vanity top that has separated from its base, we stock and install Wellborn-compatible replacement parts across Los Angeles. A typical Wellborn bathroom repair or partial remodel runs $10,620 to $33,040 fully installed, depending on whether we are replacing hardware, re-facing a vanity, or rebuilding the wet area around it. Most owners discover the problem the same way: a drawer that sticks on hot, dry days, a door that swings open overnight, or a soft-close mechanism that stopped catching six months after the kids discovered it made a noise.
What you will notice first is rarely catastrophic. It is a small thing that nags. The drawer hangs slightly lower than the one beside it. The finish on the door edge has gone chalky near the tub. The vanity base has swelled where bathwater pooled against the toe kick. Graham Stein, who runs our Los Angeles crews, says the Wellborn calls we get are split about evenly between hardware that has simply worn out and water damage that started small and traveled. Both are fixable. Both are worth understanding before you start pulling things apart.
Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn builds bathroom vanities, linen cabinets, and wall cabinets across several series, and the parts are not always interchangeable between them. The three lines we see most often in Los Angeles homes are the Estate Series, Signature Series, and Premier Series. Each has its own door profile, hinge type, and drawer box construction. A hinge from an Estate vanity will not align correctly on a Signature door, even if the screw pattern looks close. We check the model label inside the drawer box or on the back of the door before ordering anything.
Here is the compatibility gotcha that catches a lot of owners: Wellborn changed its soft-close hinge geometry around 2018. Cabinets built before that use a different mounting plate than current production. If you buy a current-generation hinge and screw it onto a 2015 vanity, the door will close with the wrong gap and the soft-close will engage too early or not at all. We keep both generations of hinge plates on hand, along with the door bumpers, drawer glides, and shelf pins that match each series. When we cannot match a discontinued finish exactly, we will tell you that on the phone, before a truck rolls to your house.
One more thing worth knowing: Wellborn offers both framed and frameless construction depending on the series. Framed cabinets use hinges that mount to the face frame. Frameless use cup hinges that bury into the door panel. You cannot swap one for the other. If you are not sure which you have, open a door and look for a visible frame around the opening. That single detail tells us most of what we need to know before we even see the part.

Signs Your Wellborn Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- The drawer drops or scrapes when you pull it. This is almost always a worn glide or a broken clip where the drawer box meets the glide rail. Wellborn’s undermount glides are rated for years of daily use, but the plastic retaining clips are the weak point in humid bathroom air. They dry out, crack, and the drawer starts riding low.
- The soft-close no longer catches. Inside the hinge or the glide there is a small damper that wears down with repeated slamming. In Los Angeles, the dry air near the inland valleys hardens the damper seals faster than coastal humidity would. The result is a door that closes with a thud instead of a whisper.
- Finish is blistering or peeling on the lower cabinet edges. This is the earliest sign of water intrusion. It happens near the toe kick first, where bath mats and wet towels bridge water against the cabinet. Once the finish lifts, the substrate is exposed and the swelling begins. This is the one we tell people to call about sooner rather than later.
- The vanity top has shifted or the caulk line has pulled away at the back. Cabinets sit on the floor; vanities carry weight. When the base cabinet swells or settles, the top can shift slightly. The caulk line against the wall pulls loose, and now water has a path behind the vanity. In Los Angeles, slab foundations settle differently than the pier-and-beam homes up in the hills, so we check the cabinet level before we blame the caulk.
- The cabinet pulls away from the wall, or the wall cabinet sags at one corner. This is structural. It means the mounting screws have lost their bite in the wall, usually because the original installer hit a void or used anchors rated for less weight than the loaded cabinet. Do not load that cabinet. Call us, and we will check the mounting and the wall behind it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, Wellborn bathroom repair and partial remodeling runs from $10,620 to $33,040 installed. That range covers everything from a vanity hardware overhaul to a full replacement of the vanity, top, and surrounding tile. A smaller, focused repair, replacing hinges and glides on a single vanity, will land near the bottom of that range. A full wet-area rebuild with new Wellborn cabinetry, a Cambria or Silestone top, and re-tiling around the tub or shower lands near the top.
Every quote we give is written down before any work starts. The number stays the number. No change orders, no “we found something else” pricing after the crew arrives. Parts and labor are listed separately on your quote so you can see exactly what the cabinet hardware costs and exactly what the installation costs. The work, including the parts we install, is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If something is not done right, we make it right.
The price depends on three things: which Wellborn series you have, whether the finish is still in production, and how much water has gotten into the cabinet box. Hardware-only work is quick and affordable. A compromised cabinet box means replacement, and that is a different project. When you call, we will ask a few questions that tell us which situation you are in before we give you a price range.
DIY or Call Us?
Some Wellborn parts are genuinely owner-serviceable. Door bumpers, shelf pins, and drawer liners are easy, and we will tell you exactly what to buy if that is all you need. Adjusting a hinge is also something a patient homeowner can do with a screwdriver and a level. Where we tell people to stop is the moment a part is under tension or a cabinet is separating from the wall. A loaded wall cabinet falling off a mounting rail is a serious injury risk, and it sends glass and porcelain across the floor. Same thing with a vanity that has shifted: if the cabinet is no longer sitting level, there is a structural problem underneath it, not a hinge problem.
We are independent of Wellborn. We do not sell as a dealer; we install and service what is in your home, matching parts to your specific series. If you are not sure whether something is safe to touch, call (949) 850-9896 and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you honestly whether it is a five-minute fix you can do yourself or a job for a crew that carries the right brackets, shims, and hardware on the truck.
FAQs

Wellborn cabinetry typically lasts 20 to 30 years in a properly ventilated Los Angeles bathroom, with hardware like soft-close hinges and drawer glides needing replacement every 8 to 12 years depending on use and humidity. Coastal homes with constant moisture see hardware wear faster; inland homes see more finish drying and checking.
A slightly swollen cabinet box can sometimes be dried, clamped, and re-sealed if the damage is caught early, but once the substrate has crumbled or the finish has fully delaminated, replacement is the honest fix. We will tell you which one you have when we see it. Call (949) 850-9896 for an exact assessment.
Most hardware replacements, hinges, glides, bumpers, drawer boxes, take one visit of two to four hours. A full vanity or wet-area replacement can take one to two weeks depending on finish lead times from Wellborn and tile work involved.
We stock the most common Wellborn hinge generations, drawer glides, shelf pins, and door bumpers on our trucks in Los Angeles. Discontinued finishes or series-specific door panels are ordered directly, and we will give you the lead time before we start.
